Surface Festival curator Tim Phibs will join forces with the Enlighten Festival to create an illuminated 3D mural at Commonwealth Place in the National Triangle from 4-14 of March.

This one-of-a-kind festival collaboration will connect the daytime Surface Festival@ Enlighten Festival with Illuminations @Enlighten Festival. Surface Festival is a celebration of urban art in Canberra. Artists encompassing street art, graffiti, portraits, stencils, Indigenous art, geometric and abstract art will work across 30 walls and structures.

About the artist

Phibs is one of the most respected and renowned names in Australian Graffiti and Street Art. His public artworks are prolific in Melbourne and Sydney, as well as in many far-flung places across the globe.

Phibs’ distinctive style signifies the symbiotic, engaging the urban with the organic. He produces works across a vast variety of mediums and consistently reflects his own unique realms of symbolism, multiculturalism and mythology. Largely inspired by nature, his works have spawned a menagerie of signature characters. He is one of Australia’s most experienced muralists with over two decades of large-scale walls to his name.
