In 2023 the Enlighten Festival will expand across the lake with City Illuminations @ Enlighten Festival, with installations through City Walk, Ainslie Place and Civic Square as part of Before Us: A Night Walk Through Time.

The City Centre will play host to illuminated, finely crafted creatures after dark. Be amazed and discover the biological ‘big bang’ of planet Earth, where prehistoric life multiplied and evolved from kooky critters to massive beasts.

This outdoor and free family-friendly event will be open from 5-11pm, 3 March to 13 March and take Canberrans and visitors on a night walk through time along with life-size puppets roving the city each night from 6.30-9.30pm.

Presented by City Renewal Authority in collaboration with Events ACT, Canberra Theatre Centre and Canberra Museum and Gallery to expand the official footprint of the much-loved Enlighten Festival to include the City Illuminations.

We’re encouraging Enlighten visitors to make the most of their experience and shop, eat and enjoy City Centre businesses during their visit.

Open 5-11pm from 3-13 March.
