Twilight on the Savannah

Immerse yourself in the sights and sounds of Africa

Immerse yourself in the sights and sounds of Africa – right here in Canberra!

The recently opened savannah area of the National Zoo & Aquarium includes a beautiful new central viewing park. Bring a picnic and enjoy the landscaped surroundings, waterfall, lawns and cabanas. Relax and unwind to the sounds of the classical string quartet Mostly Mozart and delight in the wonderful ambience created in the zoo as the day comes to an end.

Explore the new grounds and nearby animal residents, including giraffe and rhinos and discover Fern Gully with its prehistoric inhabitants. Learn from our experienced guides and personally meet some friendly reptiles and dingoes.

Our new café will also be open for light refreshments and snacks.
